Housing America Poster Contest
Contact your local state chapter to get details about this year's State Poster Contest or Contact Us for more information.
The deadline for State Chapters to submit their winners to Mountain Plains NAHRO is May 15, 2025. Contact us for details on how to send your winners to Mountain Plains NAHRO.
As part of NAHRO's Housing America campaign, a poster contest is held each year for children residing in housing owned or administered by NAHRO member agencies. Posters reflect the national theme of “What Home Means to Me.” The contest is a collaborative effort of NAHRO’s chapter/state, regional, and national organizations. National honorees are selected from regional level winning entries.
National honorees receive U.S. Savings Bonds with the 12 national honorees receiving a $100 savings bond, and the National Grand Prize honoree (calendar cover) receiving a $500 savings bond. The Grand Prize honoree and his, or her, family will also be provided with transportation to and lodging at NAHRO’s National Legislative Conference in Washington, DC in the Spring. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a framed copy of their original artwork and will tour Capitol Hill. All National honorees will receive a framed certificate.
Each participating state chapter organizes its own contest and selects one winner in each of three categories: Kindergarten-5th Grade, Middle School and High School. The state chapter then submits its three winning posters to Mountain Plains NAHRO to compete in a regional competition which is usually held during its annual conference. The regional winners are then sent to National NAHRO for judging and a chance to appear in the annual calendar.
